  1. I was hooked from the opening pages of “Portia’s Revelation” by Rich Tenaglia, and my interest never faded for a moment! I loved the creative and strong characters and the unique storyline that continued to unfold and surprise. I’ve read a ton of historical/fantasy fiction over the years so I’m rarely surprised by anything anymore but I can say that this Mr. Tenaglia managed to do it. I appreciated the solid pace and the descriptive details that really brought the story to life – world building is absolutely crucial in selling a ‘fantasy’ story and it is done quite nicely here, and thought the Roman element was very cool (liked the gladiator scenes) Enjoyed the positive, uplifting message from Spiritae and thought the ‘code’ was very cool. Recommend for anyone (adults) who enjoy a well-written, action packed, alternative reality novel with unexpected twists and riveting characters. (5 stars) Stacy Decker
  1. I loved this book. I liked the author’s “voice” and writing style, it was almost literary with beautiful prose and narration. All the historical and philosophical/spiritual drama made this more than just a ‘fantasy’, and it was complex enough to make me want to keep reading night after night. Clean editing and a great message throughout, and I’d be happy to read more from Tenaglia in the future! (4 stars) Nicole Hastings
  1. Rich Tenaglia demonstrates a strong and almost addicting narrative style and great attention to detail in “Portia’s Revelation” that kept me eagerly turning the pages of my Kindle late into the evening. The ancient world (and the modern setting) is vivid, and the characters (Portia, Spiritae, etc.) really move the story forward in an entertaining and engaging manner. I will happily read more from Rich Tenaglia in the future. Recommend for fans of literary fantasy and historical fiction. (4 stars) Eliza Brown
  1. What an interesting ride! The author has genuine talent in the historical/philosophical/literary realm, and it is clear that he is well-versed in the craft. There is a genuine authenticity to the characters, and the story shows a lot of heart. Well-crafted and intelligent, I enjoyed it through the end and appreciated the beautiful message, especially at the end. Recommend. (5 stars)  Essie Harmon
  1. This was a great change of pace for me, as I normally gravitate towards more realistic-style or nonfiction, but this was one epic tale that I couldn’t put down! I enjoyed the easy flow and inventive ideas and plot of “Portia’s Revelation”, and really liked the characters! Happy that they were not cliché, cardboard cutouts of typical fantasy lore, but relatable and real, brilliant and deeply profound at times. The narrative shifts to let us see the story through various perspectives, and by the end I’d fallen in love with this book. Although certain parts are wrapped up nicely, I think that enough is left open for the reader to think over for themselves and contemplate further. Thought Spiritae was a fabulous, powerful literary character and think that the message is delivered very creatively and in an entertaining way. Suitable for teens on up, and even if you aren’t necessarily into reading ‘historical’ or ‘fantasy’ fiction, the underlying story, message, and morals will appeal to almost everyone. 1. When I first started this book, I wasn’t prepared to like it as much as I did! But I fell in love not with just with Portia and Spiritae, but with all the supporting cast past and present. Rich Tenaglia writes like a seasoned pro! I was surprised to read that this is his debut, as this is one of the better written and polished books I’ve read in a long time. And the editing was nearly flawless, which is extremely rare. “Portia’s Revelation” is an inspirational fantasy novel at heart but it is so, so much more, and I was genuinely impressed with the level of intelligence and complexity Mr. Tenaglia brought to a genre that can be full of predictable cliché storytelling. This was fresh, unique, and I loved the ancient Roman setting and the different characters from back then (even mentioning real ones, like Emperor Commodus). Mr. Tenaglia captures the era and tone perfectly! Can’t wait to read more from him soon! (5 stars) Karen Matthews – Goodreads; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers
  1. What an amazing story! I absolutely loved that ending (wiping away a small tear). I read “Portia’s Revelation” by Rich Tenaglia in only two nights (so rare for me), and I loved how easy this was to read! I was never bored (impossible with all the crazy drama happening every second!), and the author’s writing style was very engaging and compelling. The ending was amazing, and I’d definitely look for other works from this author as I really like his style. (5 stars) Claire Middleton – Goodreads; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers
  1. “Portia’s Revelation” by Rich Tenaglia is one of the most original and well-crafted novels I’ve read in a long time! I was completely drawn in from the get-go, and absolutely loved the author’s descriptive, lively prose, and his attention to detail, both with the characters and with the historical setting. This is one of the more ‘intelligent’ fantasy novels I’ve read, and the characters are strong and believable. Positive messages that everyone can benefit form, and a great supporting cast. I liked the brisk pace and the short chapters. Makes for a satisfying read that you don’t want to put down. Recommend for mature teens on up. 1. “Portia’s Revelation” is an excellent novel that was well-written and held my attention from the beginning through to the end due to the fact that it was seriously unlike anything I’ve ever read before… and I read a lot! I thought the characters were genuine, and I appreciated that the smaller characters played important roles and weren’t just there to ‘deliver their lines’. Felt rounded out and complete, with a deeper message than just a ‘girl who has visions’. . Each scene was riveting, imaginative, and nicely developed, and I was a bit surprised at the level of complexity that sneaked in—-Definitely more punch than a run-of-the-mill typical historical fantasy. The descriptions were good and really helped to create an authentic scene reminding us that were are in the past (even when going to the future). I was genuinely shocked at some things that happened, and thought the ending was perfect. A terrific read that I’d recommend to just about anyone who enjoys a wonderful story (5 stars) Jenna Brewster – Goodreads; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers
  1. Warning…when starting this book make sure you don’t have anywhere you need to be or anything you need to do because you won’t want to stop reading until you’ve finished it all!! Trust me on this! I think what I liked the most about this book was just the overall feel Rich Tenaglia managed to create where it felt intimate, like a close friend was telling me this really awesome story that I didn’t want to stop listening to. We really feel like we are there in the story, part of the action in Portia’s world as we try to unravel the mysteries of the visions and force you to perhaps look at some things differently for a while in a way that you haven’t before. I finished it before I knew it, and thought the ending was simply lovely – heartfelt and touching on a spiritual level. Will recommend to others. (4-5 stars) Kaylee Stevens
  1. This book was terrific! Once I started reading I didn’t want to stop until I’d finished the whole thing. It pulls you in from the beginning, and I enjoyed Rich Tenaglia’s unique “voice” and style of writing. The interweaving plot lines were ingenious, funny, deep, smart, and not predictable, and the element of having it set in ancient Rome (and current times) was a new angle for me— I usually only read contemporary novels. Have to say I think it made it even better! I loved the overall message and want to read more from this author in the future. 1. “Portia’s Revelation” is a charming, compelling read, and one that will definitely appeal to fans of historical drams, literary fiction, women’s fiction novels. We feel like we are a part of the book and the whole ‘mind-bending’ experience. I would recommend for fans of historical drama/suspense who would like a new twist. 1. Wow, “Portia’s Revelation” By Rich Tenaglia was awesome! Loved it! I haven’t read a ‘literary-fantasy’ like that in a long time, if ever. Jhonni Parker – Goodreads; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers
  1. From the opening pages of Portia’s Revelation by Rich Tenaglia I knew it would be different from the books I’ve been reading lately and I was right! Mr. Tenaglia sets of the scene and characterizations in a skillful way that not only pulls us in, but creates great visualizations and elicits emotional investments. I truly cared about the characters’ fates, and was shocked and saddened at certain things (no spoilers). An interesting and diverse cast of characters, along with several well written and intriguing plot lines interwoven against unique setting makes this a memorable read for me. Highly recommend. 1. To say that is not like most books I read is a huge understatement. It would be too easy to read “Portia’s Revelation” really fast but I encourage you to take your time or you’ll be sad when it’s over like I was! I think that Rich Tenaglia has found himself a nice niche with this genre and I hope he keeps at it. I’d love to read more. 1. Loved this book!!!! “Portia’s Revelation” by author Rich Tenaglia is one of the most original and just flat out interesting fiction novels I’ve ever read. I liked it for so many different reasons— first the writing was stellar. Like, almost perfect. The strong word choice and fluid prose makes it a very easy book to sink into. There are enough descriptions where you can picture everything perfectly, but not so much that it bogs down the pacing. The specific attention to detailing, like what they were wearing or what they were doing really helped cement the scene in my mind and remind us that were in a different era. Portia was so interesting! I liked that there were things I haven’t seen in other books like this before, and it just felt more “intelligent” than others I’ve read, I think because of the interweaving plot lines of past and present and the overall themes that are just as applicable today as they were 2,000 years ago. It almost seems like it could be a movie of the week. A fun, slightly surreal and unorthodox roller-coaster read that I’d recommend to anyone who wants to try something new. You won’t be disappointed. (5 stars) Samantha Ryan– Goodreads; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers
  1. Fabulous… a real breath of fresh air! What lovely prose and vivid atmosphere and characterizations Rich Tenaglia weaved into this fun and creative novel! Some parts were just so beautiful and descriptive – almost poetic. I’d love to read more from Mr. Tenaglia. Recommend for adults, but it is probably okay for older teens as well. (4 stars) J. Jones– Goodreads; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers
  2. I really liked this book, Portia’s Revelation, and honestly the more time that passes, the more I think I like it. I finished last week, but it is really sticking with me for some reason, and I think I’ll re-read it again soon. I read tons and tons of fantasy, and historical fiction, even modern mystery and suspense (and this book has a nice blend of all those) and this one stands out as having more “character” and “depth” than most I’ve read. There is an actual smart, complex, but profound and spiritual plot here, driven by some of the best, complex, and flawed characters I’ve read lately. It was totally unpredictable and not at all contrived. The writing is very good and natural sounding, and I liked the ending a lot. I think this author is off to a very promising start (this is his debut, believe it or not) and I’m definitely reading his next one when it’s available. Thanks!
